Infrastructure Development

New Orleans can’t be a first-class city with a Third World infrastructure. We have to think bigger and plan smarter for our long-term future, which means we need non-hazardous/functional streets and non-leaking pipes. As Mayor, I want to build New Orleans into a Smart Digital City that includes smart roads and traffic lights, advanced communications systems, and state-of-the-art technologies incorporated into all aspects of city government. The people of New Orleans have the right to expect that the street lights will come on, the traffic lights will work, and repairs don’t take YEARS to complete. When a light is out, I want public works to be automatically notified within 5 minutes. They city is about to spend billions of dollars repairing the streets and sewer lines all over the city. We need a “dig once” policy, so that while we are rebuilding streets and sewers we can also bury power and telecom lines as well and beautify our neighborhoods. It is completely nonsensical that we tear up the same stretches of street for different tasks.
