Open Letter to Morial Family and New Orleans Citizens

This will be my one and only response to the Morial family statement regarding my tribute to the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I am proud of my 23-year-old son Brandon, a young engineer who has openly referred to me as his role model. As I'm sure you can understand, it is heart warming for any father to be the focus of a child's love and admiration. In an effort to contribute to my campaign for Mayor, Brandon took it upon himself to pull family photographs from our scrapbooks and create a 60-second video using the audio from my tribute to Dr. King.

Troy Henry Address: The Media Reports on Race

Today in The Times-Picayune newspaper, columnist James Gill wrote, “Sure, in a rational world, the color of hizzoner's skin would be irrelevant. But we live in New Orleans.”

Those words should send shivers up the spine of every citizen in this community. Whether the columnist is right or wrong is irrelevant. What is more important is that we don’t let any reports, any politician or anyone deduce that a candidate is about to be anointed mayor without the benefit of the democratic process.

Troy Henry's Statement on Sen. Murray's Departure

Senator Ed Murray was a formidable candidate with strong legislative skills.  I can only imagine how tough it was for him to make the decision to withdraw from the mayor’s race.  I know he had the City of New Orleans’ best interests in his hopes and heart.  His exit from the campaign, does not impact my message, platform, or passion to transform New Orleans.  Our candidacy’s rapid momentum continues because I wholeheartedly believe that my method of managing, problem solving, and determination to achieve positive results are the right skills for this important position.  Of course, I will reach out to Sen. Murray and all of his supporters in hopes that they will join my campaign for change.

Women Support Troy Henry for Mayor

New Orleans—Women Inspired by Troy Henry (WITH) will sponsor a fundraiser and social event on Wednesday, December 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Chef Austin’s Restaurant, 2005 N. Broad St. During the event, Troy Henry will give remarks on why he is uniquely qualified to be the next mayor of the city of New Orleans. Henry is the only candidate with 25 years of relevant executive experience, running and managing complex enterprises. He has a proven track record of turning large, underperforming organizations around and making them work again. He will do the same as mayor. He will make New Orleans the most desirable city in America in which to live and work.

The suggested donation for this event is $50.00.

Troy Henry Shines in first Televised Debate

New Orleans--The first televised debate of the political season for mayoral candidates was moderated by Norman Robinson and aired on WDSU-TV December 15, 2009. By many accounts, there was a clear frontrunner—Troy Henry. The most important confirmation of Henry’s status as a major candidate in this important election, however, came from the people of New Orleans.  Overwhelmingly, a survey of post debate commentary by everyday residents and various blog entries reviewing the candidates’ performance cited Troy Henry as the outright winner or ranked him high among the standout contenders.

Troy Henry launches N.O. mayoral campaign

In at least one respect, Troy Henry hopes he can replicate the success of Mayor Ray Nagin. He wants New Orleans voters to elect him, a business executive and relative unknown making his first run at public office, to lead city government and clean up corruption, just as Nagin convinced them to do in 2002.
